How To Make Funny Wedding Invitations?
A wedding is a beautiful time for a couple. The union of two people into a bond that will hopefully be forever is a wonderful thing. However, it is possible to have a little fun with the concept of marriage. Instead of printing out solemn and overly serious stationery and invitations, have fun instead. You can create funny wedding invitations with lots of unique ideas to celebrate your big day, go beyond the normal and instead show off your personality. A wedding that is fun and leads to a fun reception is a good start to a long-lasting marriage.
What Makes You And Your Significant Other Laugh?
Wedding invitations don’t have to fit the mold and the standard way of sending them. If you want to create funny invitations in the shape of hearts cut out of construction paper that look like they were created by a five year old, then that’s your prerogative. Sure it won’t be the typical wedding invite that you’d expect to find anywhere else, but likely you pride yourself on being different, and a big part of that is your humor.
Be Creative To Show Your Talent
You could get creative and make some homemade wedding invitations that will show off your artsy side, and then take it to a whole new level:
- Use a big sombrero as the shape of the invitation itself;
- Use something funny as the backdrop like a clown, or a character from your favorite humorous movie or television show.
- If you have a great picture of the two of you dressed up like monkeys for Halloween one year, feeding each other bananas and laughing it up, this could be the perfect backdrop.
- Take a picture of the two of you dressed up as peanut butter and jelly and use a caption that reads something like “We Go Together Like Peanut Butter and Jelly”.

Joke Invitations
A popular amusing wedding invitation is the “joke” invitation. Print a series of wedding jokes–found online or in joke books–on the invitation.
Obituary Invitations
This one should only be done in a family with a great sense of humor and understanding. To play off the cliche that marriage equals death, you can make your invitations look like obituaries.
Concert Invitations
This is a funny idea for a couple that loves music. Print out invitations that resemble tickets. Print out “time of event” as the date of the wedding and “the event” as “The Rocking Wedding of So and So to So and So” or something similar.
Funny words
The words can help create a funny invitation as can the paper you print it on. Write out your funny invitation wording before turning to the computer to make it look good. Take your time and scribble out as many versions of your invitation as you need, as your event, be it a 40th birthday or wedding, will never happen again.
Use fun paper and paper decorations
There’s nothing funny about basic card stock. Find paper with a graveyard motif for a significant birthday party invitation or “Frankenstein”/”Bride of Frankenstein” stickers to decorate a bridal shower RSVP.
You could even get a bit more clever by taking a photo of the two of you and using captions to turn it into the perfect funny wedding invitation. Whatever you decide should fit your personality, and if humor is a big part of the two of you as a couple, then use it to make your special day funny from the start.
